Paddleboard Maidenhead

Paddleboarding and Yoga classes with Tara Sutthoff Crist

Tara teaches a combination of paddleboarding and yoga classes on the river Thames, in and around Maidenhead. Sessions typically start at Boulters Lock or Horse Guards Park by the Maidenhead Bridge. Or at The Ferry in Cookham. However, classes can go from Maidenhead, Cookham, Bray and beyond.

She holds group sessions for any occasion, such as hen parties, team building exercises or just for fun.

Paddleboard Maidenhead have also recently collaborated with the Maidenhead Sailing Club on Summerleaze Road. There will be regular paddlesports sessions on Sundays for members and non members.

Boards can be hired.

Paddleboard Maidenhead Session

For your paddleboard lesson either with Tara or one of her team, you will be provided with a paddleboard, a paddle and a life vest and you will start your lesson on a quiet part of the river away from traffic (other boats). You are free to stay as close to the edge as you like!

Tara will tailor your session for you and get you confident on the water if you are new to it. You can usually choose where you want to paddle from. It could in Maidenhead or Cookham or Bray or Henley.

For the more experienced paddleboarder, Tara can show you tricks to handle and manoeuvre the board. For the more adventurous, you can even stop for a spot of yoga (purely optional!)

You will be in a group of similar experienced paddlers, so no one will leave you behind!

About Tara

How long have you been paddleboarding?

I have been a paddlesports coach and a volunteer kayak coach (at Longridge Canoe Club) since 2011. (Now part of the Paddlesports club at Maidenhead Sailing Club, Summerleaze).

What made you get into it?

It started with Kayaks, as my husband and I enjoy doing that. Then he developed sciatica. We didn’t want to stop going out on the river but he needed to stand up.

I instantly fell in love with paddleboarding. Although it is a lot slower than kayaking, it is very much like yoga. Things that were easy on the mat were harder on the board, so it was like starting out again.

I love learning. I love being a student as well as a teacher. Paddleboarding is a hobby I enjoy. I love yoga and I love water and I can combine the both on the paddleboard. They can be separate or they can be combined.
