The Cookham Festival 2022
The Cookham Festival is a celebration of the arts for the people of the village, by the people of the village. It takes places between Friday 6th May and Sunday 22nd May.
There will be events taking place each day in various locations. These include The Odney Club, Pinder Hall, The Stanley Spencer Gallery, Cookham High Street and more.
There will be music events, poetry, sculptures, workshops, comedy and so much more. Visit the website for a full list of events. There is a mixture of free and paid events.
The Cookham Festival Sculpture Garden
The Sculpture Garden returns to The Odney Club as part of the Cookham Festival, between Saturday 7th May and Sunday 22nd May. Entry is £3 at the gate.
Gates open at 10am and close at 5pm each day. You can spend time viewing the sculptures in the garden and sit down for tea and cake afterwards. This exhibition includes an eclectic collection from talented artists from the UK. They are all available to purchase.

Once Upon a Bus Storytelling for Ukraine
Once Upon a Bus will be at the Odney Club as part of the Cookham Festival on Saturday 14th May and Sunday 15th May between 10am and 4pm. Tickets are £5.50 per person and all profits go towards Safeplaces RBWM, supporting Ukranian families and hosts in the Royal Borough.
There are shows and stories throughout the day, and each story telling experience on the bus lasts 30 minutes.
For those wishing to visit the Sculpture Garden as well, a donation of 50p (usually £3) will grant you a wristband to allow access into the gardens.

Repair Cafe Maidenhead
The Repair Cafe will be at The Maidenhead Library, St Ives Road on Saturday 14th May between 10am – 3pm.
The team of skilled volunteers help you to learn how to fix your items and bring them back to life. It could be anything from laptops to small furniture pieces.
This month celebrates their one year anniversary at the library – so they are also celebrating with a bake off! They will be welcoming you to come in with some cake so you can have a chat and enjoy!

Cox Green Village Fayre
The Cox Green Village Fayre will take place on Brill Green, Cox Green Lane on Saturday 14th May from 12pm.
The Mayor will open the event at midday, and there will be live music, stalls, refreshments, splat the rat, crafts, military vehicles and plenty more.
The Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane are also due over Cox Green that day between 3:05pm and 3:50pm as part of the Battle of Britain Flyover.
Monthly Full Moon Paddleboarding
Paddleboard Maidenhead will be heading on their monthly full moon paddles on Monday 16th May from Medmenham (near Marlow).
This month is the Spring full moon known as the Flower Moon. May’s full moon will also bring a total Lunar eclipse – or so called Blood Moon which takes on a red colour.
Being on the river is a fantastic opportunity to witness the full moon with the light bouncing off the water. On occasions there is an opportunity for yoga or meditation depending on the participants.

Free Cockerel of Berkshire Comedy Night
The Free Cockerel of Berkshire comedy club in Maidenhead is holding a charity comedy night at Summerleaze NMCC sports bar Maidenhead, SL6 8SP, on Thursday 19th May from 7:30pm – 11pm.
There will be an evening of stand up comedy, from up and coming comedy stars. It is to raise money for the Thames Valley Adventure Playground in Taplow which is a charity who work with children and adults with additional needs.

Gang Show (Bookshop on Reader Street)
The Brownies, Guides and Scouts will be performing a show at The High Street Methodist Church, Maidenhead on Saturday 21st May. There will be a showing at 2pm and a second a 6pm, each lasting two hours with a twenty minute interval.
Tickets are £10 each and can be paid online or by contacting the box office.
There will also be a raffle to raise money for Ukraine and refreshments will be available to purchase. Get in touch if you require wheelchair access.
Little Me Spring Carnival
Little Me Preschool will be having their spring carnival on Sunday 22nd May at Maidenhead and Bray Cricket Club between 11am and 3pm.
There will be plenty of activities, such as a bouncy castle, face painting and games. There will also be food and drink and the bar will be open.
They will also be joined by Wish Upon a Bus, the Berkshire Birds of Prey and the Enchanted Players Theatre Company. Plus there will be woodland play with marshmallow toasting. These activities can be booked in advance via BookWhen

Angeal’s Appeals Fresh Food and Drinks Market
Angela’s Appeals hope to hold a regular fresh food and drinks market. This month they are on Sunday 8th May and Sunday 22nd May at Larchfield Community Centre, from 11am – 2:30pm.
Expect to find fresh cakes, free range eggs, local honey, plants and more.
It’s free entry and there is free parking.
The community centre can be reached off Desborough Crescent, off Norden Road in Maidenhead.
Silent Disco at The Pineapple Dorney
Head to The Pineapple at Dorney, SL4 6QS on Friday 27th May at 8pm for a silent disco!
It’ll be under the stretch tent and there will be three stations to choose from. There will be music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, house, garage, R&B, music from the naughties, and pop!
Tickets cost £5.
Family Zoo Day at BCA Zoo
Throughout the warmer months, BCA Zoo will be running their Family Zoo Days on the last Saturday of each month. This month it will fall on Saturday 28th May either between 9am – 12pm or 1pm – 4pm.
Simply head to the website (below) and select the session you’d like to attend. Tickets cost £8 but sessions do get booked up quickly.
As part of the zoo day, you are able to explore the zoo out in the courtyard, the reptile house and the farmyard. There will also be arts and crafts in the cafe or other activities (additional fees may apply).
Almost the Donkey Derby Burnham Park
Almost The Donkey Derby organised by the Burnham Beeches Rotary Club will take place at Burnham Park, SL1 6DR on Saturday 28th May, 12pm – 5pm.
It will be a fun family event, with donkey rides, stalls, food, a bar and entertainment.
As well as this, there will be a funfair and kids competitions.

SUP Fun Family Yoga
There will be a family fun day of yoga on the paddleboards, at The Maidenhead Sailing Club, Summerleaze, on Sunday 29th May 3pm – 5pm.
This family event is for parents, carers, kids and teens. No experience of paddleboarding or yoga is required! Tara from Paddleboard Maidenhead is not only a paddlesports coach, but a senior yoga instructor and acro yoga teacher. You can do as much or as little as you want!
Bring your own board or you can hire equipment. An adult must be on the board with a child.
Artisan Craft Market on The High Street
The artisan craft market will return to Maidenhead High Street on Sunday 29th May between 11am – 4pm.
There will be gifts, jewellery, cakes and more from local artists and sellers.

Maidenhead Softball Club Youth Program
The Maidenhead Softball Club are running their Youth scheme on Wednesday’s from 6:30pm – 8pm at Summerleaze NMCC Sports Bar.
These are FREE sessions for girls and boys aged 10 – 14. No experience of Softball is needed, and all equipment is provided. The sessions are run by trained Softball coaches.

Braywick Nature Centre Half Term Fun
Braywick Nature Centre are putting on some family half term activities on Tuesday May 31st, on Hibbert Road, SL6 1UU.
There are two sessions and booking is essential. Between 10am and 11:30am there is Pond Dip, where children can discover creatures in the wildlife pond. There will be family groups and guides and rangers to help with to identify your finds!
Then between 2pm and 3:30pm there is the Minibeast Safari meeting at the same location.
Family groups can head to the grassland by the nature reserve with nets and bug pots, to discover minibeasts.
It is buggy friendly and there is free parking at the nature centre, and toilets inside the centre. Each session is £5. Suitable for 4 – 11 year olds.
Re:Charge Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Week
Re:Charge will be holding a family jubilee themed session at Larchfield Community Centre, off Desborough Crescent on Tuesday 31st May between 10am – 2pm.
It is £2 per family and booking is essential as numbers are limited. There will be arts and crafts from 10am – 11:30am, an obstacle course from 11:30am – 12:15pm, Foodshare from 12:15pm – 1pm and party games from 1pm -2pm.
